Installation & Configuration

Hello there! Let's understand how do we make posting a story/article from app to the your website possible, and thus super easy!

Let's begin with configuring Getstorify Pro Plugin with your wordpress website first.

To go ahead, we assume you have :

1) An active getstorify acccount setup in the gestorify app.

2) Atleast one story posted, using the app, so as to test while we configure the plugin.

3) A wordpress site

If 1) & 2) steps are not completed yet, please refer to the links below.

1) First understand how to install app and do a basic setup.

2) Click on the the link below to know how to create your first story in minutes!

 

Now let's make your story visible i.e. public (remember creating a category before publishing?)

Step 3) : Login to the getstorify website.

Note : If you are logging in using your mobile number, kindly add the country code as a prefix "91" as well.

Step 04) : Click on the profile icon on the top right corner.

As soon as you click you shall see the story appears on the screen.

Now select the options icon and click 'Edit'

The page gets reloaded. Go to 'Manage story status' and select 'Public'

scroll down a bit and hit 'Save'.

Step 05) Click on the link below to download the Getstorify plugin file.

Put your details and click 'Download'.

Step 06) Login to your wordpress account. 

Click on the 'Plugins' option on the right column and choose 'Add New'.

Step 07) : Now click on 'Upload Plugin' option and select the zip file you recently downloaded.

After uploading the file, select 'Install now' and next click on 'Activate Plugin'

You shall see an acknowledment on the screen saying 'Plugin Activated'

Step 08) : Next click on 'Settings' in the right column bar and select

'getstorify pro plugin'.

 

You shall see on the screen there are two options :

First, to upload JSON file (We shall pull this file from the getstorify website)

or put details in the respective fields.

 

 

To make it simpler, Open to the getstorify website in a separate tab.

Select the profile icon and click on 'Settings'.

Step 09) : Select API service and then click on 'Create App'

Step 10) : Now fill the fields with an 'App name' and 'Your website url'

Do's and Dont's

Do's

1. Enter your domain name with a proper protocol like http:// or https://

2. If you have a subdomain  then your domain entry should be like ” http://subdomain.example.com.”

 

Dont's

1. Do not enter any extra queries in the domain name (Example – http://example.com/?id=1234).

Only enter the domain name (Example – http://example.com).

 

After making the entries click on CREATE button.

On success, you will get to see your newly created App card. 

If you click on the MANAGE button, a form appears containing all your credentials. These can be downloaded as a json file to upload it for configuring the plugin.
Let's do it!

Click on the ' ' next to the Manage text in the 'Manage Button. 

And select the first option 'Download API Service Config JSON File'

Step 10) : Upload the JSON file by opening Wordpress Dashboard  and select 'settings' > Getstorify Pro Plugin.

Select the json file after clicking 'Choose File'.

Hit 'Save'.

An updated text saying 'getstorify credentials saved' shall be seen.

Now, staying in the same page scroll down and copy the code  [getStorifyPlugin_shortcode] in bold from 'How to use the shortcode' section. This can be used in both posts and pages.

 Go to your blog page or if you don't have one, create a new page in WordPress , paste this shortcode in the text editor and click on 'Publish/Update' button.

Now if you view your blog page, you shall see the story visible there.

We are almost done!

Next we shall register the page/post where we are using the shortcode by adding route rule.

So scroll down in Settings to see the section 'Register the page/post where you are using the shortcode'.

Add the name of the page (say blog)

Click on 'Add Route'.

 You shall see a statement saying 'Routes updated' on the top.

 

Finally we save the permalinks and there we go!

Click on 'Permalinks' under 'Settings'

Choose 'Post names' under 'Common settings' option and select 'Save'

Go ahead and refresh your blog page and your story is alive!
